About
Linguist
I'm a linguist at heart. I learned foreign languages (French and
Russian) at university but now I tend to think of a language as
anything that facilitates communication. That could be the
terminology we use in project management, the voice we use for
talking to toddlers or body language and facial expressions.
Of course I now count computer programming languages as part of my
linguistic expertise. Computer programming facilitiates
communication between humans and computers and this is something
that will become increasingly important in the future as humans and
computers grow closer.
Entrepreneur
In 2017 I set up a social enterprise as a response to our polarised
society and what I percevied as a lack of empowerment to make
positive changes. I didn't manage to grow the organisation into what
I had envisioned but I had a lot of success working with some
incredible chefs, partnering with some great brands and running
supper clubs.
Creating a business from scratch with no investment is an incredible
achievement and something I'm very proud of. We had wonderful
reviews from the events and I have a lot of fond memories.
Ultimately the business failed but I learned such a lot from this
experience and it has given me incredibly valuable skills for the
future that cannot be learnt in the classroom. Check out the website

Leader
I am a natural leader. I love building teams and am driven to
step up when I see problems that aren't being solved. This is
evident from my starting a social enterprise but there are numerous
occasions where I've taken initiative to solve problems in my
personal and professional life.
Recently, I had an amazing opportunity to practice and hone these
skills after I completed a tech returner's programme run jointly by
Entain and McLaren Racing. I took a lead on a project to produce a
POC onboarding journey for the McLaren app. I'm proud of what we
achieved and prouder still of how we worked together on the project.

Activist
Most of my friends and family see me as an environmental activist as
I have been involved in various campaigns since I was at school and
it was this passion that led me to set up Third Space Canteen.
Nowadays, I think a lot of problems (inc. environmental ones) exist
because of a lack of empowerment and my activism is centered around
this, particularly with regards to DEI. I'm a consistent advocate
for better equality in all aspects of life. I know how to champion
this in a tactful way in the workplace and lead by example.
Skills
I have completed extensive training to upskill and graduated from maker's bootcamp in 2022 which gave me great experience of working on coding projects with other developers, pair programming and test-driven development. I then took a placement with a FTSE 100 company as a test engineer. It was a fantastic experience but wasn't a good fit in the long term so I am now looking for a role as a software developer. I have very strong people skills, good experience in project management and business analysis and am a hugely creative thinker which I feel would make me a strong candidate for a smaller organisation, a consultancy and getting involved with innovation, AI projects and web 3.
